Comprehensive Therapy for Cancer and Other Chronic Diseases
by Ron Schmid, N.D.

Cancer is the most difficult medical problem many people must face. Because each person is so different, a thorough evaluation is particularly important before making recommendations. But whatever the type or stage of cancer, there are a number of critical nutritional factors that should be addressed. Special diets, supplements, and herbal medicines can help. Many people have reversed the course of their disease with these natural therapies.

When people elect to have chemotherapy or radiation, properly chosen natural medicines dramatically reduce side effects and provide many other benefits. Other natural medicines prepare the body for surgery and enhance recovery time. The chances of cancer recurring can be dramatically reduced with a coordinated program of nutrition and supplements.

Over the course of many years I've made an extensive study of the history of conventional and alternative cancer treatment. I have considerable experience with the Gerson therapy, for example, and understand its strengths and weaknesses. I've visited clinics in Mexico and in Europe. I have a thorough understanding of the wide range of alternative treatment that are available today, and of the results one might expect from both alternative and conventional treatments.

There certainly are no simple solutions to cancer problems. Cancer or any other chronic disease is best seen as a warning, a signal that something is very much out of balance in one's life. For true healing to occur, changes must be made. You should accept that imbalances must be balanced, that bad habits must be eliminated, that new ways must be embraced. It is tempting to have surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation, and then go on about one's life. But so many times people have come to me a year, or two, or three later, when the cancer has come back, wishing they had done something more, sooner. If you have been diagnosed with cancer, I urge you to think about these things, whatever course of therapy you may choose. Begin now to change your life in positive ways.

Prostate cancer is a problem that is of particular interest to me because it effects so many men my own age. I have become convinced that for most men, this is a problem that is best controlled through natural methods.

Prostate Cancer—What You Need to Know

Other chronic problems-arthritis, chronic fatigue, high blood pressure, heart disease, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, allergies, depression, irritable bowel syndrome, and colitis, to name a few-can usually be controlled and can often be reversed when a well-chosen program is thoroughly embraced. Nature can in many cases work seeming miracles. My research and experience have shown me that food itself is a powerful weapon against chronic diseases. Natural medicines too are constantly emerging as effective treatments. Emotions can play a powerful role. All of these issues must be addressed to develop an integrated plan for each patient. Because every person is so different, I have no standard protocol for cancer or other chronic diseases. M experience, the principles I've learned from people like Price and Gerson, and the uniqueness of your own situation are the determinants of the plan that is best for you.
