Probiotics are generally available
only as capsules, the microorganisms having been dried
out for encapsulation. Doc’s Friendly Flora
preserves our healthful microbes in the same liquid
medium in which they ferment. We use a synergistic
trio of beneficial microbial families – lactic
acid bacteria, a unique yeast that combats harmful
yeasts, and a phototrophic microbe.
Ingredients in Doc's Friendly Flora
Our lactic acid bacteria include Lactobacillus
bulgaricus (the Lactobacillus that first became well-known
as the key microbe found in the raw yogurt of the
long-lived people of the Caucusus region of Eastern
Europe and Russia), and Lactobacilli casei, fermentum,
sporogenes and plantarum. We also use Bacillus subtilis,
a marvelous microbe that enhances immunity; Saccharomyces
cerevisiae, which aids in overcoming excessive Candida
and other harmful yeasts; and the phototrophic microbe
Rhodopseudomonas palustris.
