Description and Biography
I received my Master's
degree in Oriental Medicine from Mercy College in Dobbs
Ferry, New York. The full time, three year program included
training in Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, nutrition,
tuina (medical massage), moxibustion, Qi gong, Tai chi,
and western medical sciences. The program is affiliated
with Sound Shore Medical Center, the first medical center
in the United States to offer Oriental Medicine as part
of integrated care for inpatients and the community.
My training includes treatment of patients in both the
hospital and the walk-in clinic. My master's thesis involved
extensive research and treatment of fibromyalgia.
I am a licensed Clinical
Laboratory Scientist (CLS), with fifteen years experience
prior to my training in Oriental Medicine. This experience
serves me well in understanding the Western medicine
perspective on diagnosing and treating medical problems.
The integration of traditional Chinese medicine with
Western medicine, including the natural methods used
by alternative practitioners, is occurring today, both
in China and in the United States. My goal as a practitioner
of traditional Chinese medicine is to enable my patients
to reap the benefits of these varied yet complementary
systems of medicine. This often means that as I help
you with aspects of your care, you may also work with
other practitioners.
Chinese herbal medicine
and acupuncture are at the heart of my practice. But
I incorporate my knowledge of other systems of medicine
into my work, specifically naturopathic medicine and
biological medicine as practiced in Europe. I utilize
the diagnostic techniques of bioresonance testing and
darkfield microscopy. The exciting thing for me has been
the creation of treatments based on traditional Chinese
medicine pattern discrimination and applied principles
of harmonious lifestyle and diet. The results have been
very gratifying.
Understanding traditional
Chinese medicine gives the practitioner unique insight
into the functional assessment of subtle imbalances.
Such assessment allows for both the perfect preventative
medicine and the exact treatment necessary to restore
harmony. Properly executed, Chinese medicine has no side
effects, only benefits, particularly on the Spirit or
psyche. Many people experience a greater sense of well
being and more ability to think and plan clearly. They
often feel more in touch with their bodies.
Chinese medicine is useful
in a broad range of disorders. I specialize in pain syndromes,
sleep problems, emotional disorders, and acupuncture
facelifts. Chinese Medicine works.
