Dr. Ron's Ultra-Pure
Frequently Asked Questions

The labels of your Doc’s Best Multi and Cal-Mag Hydroxyapatite say the dose is one to six daily. What does that mean? What dose do you recommend?

An individual who has eaten poorly is more likely to need the full dose of six daily, which provides the amount of nutrients listed on the labels. On the other hand, someone who has eaten mostly natural foods with an emphasis on grassfed animal foods and fresh vegetables is more likely to need just one or two Doc’s Best daily as insurance against deficiencies. Most people fall somewhere in between, and an average dose would be one before each meal.

Cal-Mag Hydroxyapatite is a great source of New Zealand raw bone calcium. I recommend the full dose of six daily for pregnant and lactating women, and from three to six daily for anyone with bone or joint problems and for post-menopausal women. Substantial dosage – three to six daily – may also help those with high blood pressure. One or two daily makes sense as an adjunct to a good diet.

I believe that our formulas are superior to any one-a-day multi or calcium supplement because even one daily provides substantial amounts of quality nutrients in greater quantities than are found in any one-a-days we know of. Using Doc’s Best and Cal-Mag Hydroxyapatite as one-a day or two-a-day insurance against deficiencies is a strategy many of our customers employ, and one that I often recommend.

What about dosages for young children?

Organ Delight is a wonderful supplement for young children as soon as they begin eating anything besides mother’s milk. The capsules are easy to open and the powder dissolves readily in liquid, like the juice from cooking meat. Many of our customers give their kids who are a few months old three or four capsules daily.

Krill Oil and Cod Liver Oil are also great for kids as soon as they are weaned – ¼ teaspoon a day from 3 months to 12 years of age. Krill Oil capsules may be punctured and a small amount given to a child

What is the difference between the original Cal/Mag Hydroxyapatite Plus formula and the new Cal/Mag-Taurate formula?

The Cal/Mag-Taurate formula was created for those concerned with heart health as well as bone health. Taurine is an important heart health nutrient and magnesium-taurate is the best absorbed form of magnesium. Both formulas are excellent bone support forumalas, with the original formula containing more calcium.

What is the difference between Cod Liver Oil and Krill Oil? Should I take both?

Both contain lots of EPA and DHA, the two fatty acids that are so important and are found in all fish oils. But Cod Liver Oil also supplies lots of vitamins A and D, which Krill Oil does not, while Krill Oil has a variety of uniquely structured fatty acids and other nutrients that have profound effects that Cod Liver Oil does not have.

What dosages of Cod Liver Oil, Butter Oil and ghee, and Vitamin K2 do you recommend? What about Krill Oil?

It is important to balance cod liver oil, butter oil and ghee and vitamin K2. These are the amounts that I think are appropriate for most people as maximum doses:

  • Cod Liver Oil– 1/2 teaspoon a day for adults and 1/4 teaspoon a day for children aged 3 months to 12 years, and no more. Please include a link here for Rosita EVCLO.
  • Vitamin K2 - one to five drops daily or as recommended by your health care practitioner. (Note: If you are on anti-coagulants you should not take vitamin K2 supplements.) Please include a link here for Vitamin K2.
  • Krill Oil - 1 or 2 capsules daily for most people. Please include a link here for Krill Oil.

When is the best time to take my supplements?

I favor taking supplements before a meal, with plenty of water. The sups then can dissolve before your food enters the stomach. They will be absorbed more or less with the food and will be much less likely to upset the stomach than if taken after the meal.

What are your capsules made of?

The capsules for all Dr. Ron’s products are made of gelatin that comes from New Zealand bovines (cows and steers). Gelatin is easily digested, which may be important if you are taking a number of supplements, and gelatin has many nutritional benefits.

How long do the capsules last after opening?

Unopened, all products are fully potent until at least the expiration dates found on the bottles, and in fact for considerably longer. Once opened, we recommend using the contents within six months or so.

Why is there no iron, iodine, or vitamin A in Doc’s Best?

Supplemental iron can easily be toxic when taken in excess, and should not be taken unless there is a clear need for it. Iron in food is not a problem, and our Liver capsules are a great source of iron in pregnancy and lactation and for anyone wanting to add this superfood to their diet.

Iodine is a very desirable nutrient, but because some people have great sensitivity to iodine in supplements, we choose to omit it from Doc’s Best. I recommend using Sea Vegetables Plus and Iodine Complex as sources of iodine and associated nutrients, especially by people who don’t eat much seafood.

Vitamin A supplementation is so misunderstood and controversial that we chose to leave vitamin A out of Doc’s Best. Vitamin A and Vitamin D are best supplemented with Cod Liver Oil, where they occur in their natural and optimal ratio of about eight to one. We do include mixed carotenes in Doc’s Best, and beta carotene is converted to vitamin A in the human body on an as needed basis.

What would be a really good “baseline supplements program,” and what would it cost me?

Four of our products taken daily together provide critical nutrients that are in short supply in most diets. They yield results most people feel within a few weeks. Our Baseline Supplements Program is: Doc’s Best, three capsules; Cal-Mag Hydroxyapatite, three capsules; Cod Liver Oil, ½ teaspoon; and Krill Oil, one capsule.

One bottle each of these four products taken at the above dosages will last two months, at a cost of about $3.43 per day. This is our insurance-against-deficiency program.

Our supplements contain no magnesium stearate or other flowing agents, binders, lubricants,
coatings, fillers or other added ingredients of any kind
