Doc’s Triple Threat contains two herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – Horny Goat Weed (Yin Yang Huo) and Cnidium Monnieri (Shi Chuang Zi) – and the amino acid L-Arginine. The three work together to enhance circulation to areas that most need it. Enhanced blood flow to the penis results in a greater ability to achieve and maintain a vigourous erection. We never knew the formula for Love Potion Number Nine. This may have been it.

Horny Goat Weed (Yin Yang Huo), Icariin and Libido

Horny Goat Weed is a pungent ornamental herb found in Asia and the Mediterranean. In TCM it is called Yin Yang Huo, which loosely means "licentious goat plant." Legend has it that the name came from a herder who noticed his goats becoming more sexually active after eating the plant. Horny goat weed has the botanical name Epimedium sagittatum. Although it has a history of traditional use for disorders of the kidneys, joints, and liver, its principle use in the western world is as an aphrodisiac and to combat fatigue. It is appropriate for use by both men and women.

The key ingredient in Horny Goat Weed is icariin; our extract is standardized to contain 10% icariin. A researcher at the University of Milan found that icariin blocks the flow of the erection-inhibiting enzyme PDE5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) in a way similar to the way Viagra and other drugs do, but without their side effects. This results in increased blood flow to the genitals.

Other research has demonstrated that injections of Horny Goat Weed extract directly into the penis of the rat results in an increase in penile circulation.

Cnidium Monnieri (Shi Chuang Zi) Seed Extract, Nitric Oxide and Erections

Cnidium naturally increases nitric oxide release, working together with Horny Goat Weed as described above. This powerfully increases the production of cGMP (cyclic guanosine monophosphate), which is another key in obtaining and sustaining a powerful erection. cGMP relaxes the muscles around the penis, which makes it possible for the cells in the penis to take in blood, enabling a proper erection.

    L-Arginine and Sexual Arousal

L-Arginine is a vasodilating (blood vessel widening) compound that releases nitric oxide from the endothelial cells in the walls of the blood vessels and thus enhances blood flow. The inability of the blood vessels in the penis to dilate long enough to allow blood to enter is one of the main causes of erectile dysfunction.

This is why increasing nitric oxide production helps improve erection quality. L-arginine is a precursor to nitric oxide and is the only known nutritional substrate available to endothelial cells for the production of nitric oxide. L-Arginine helps dilate blood vessels to promote optimal blood circulation and maintain healthy blood pressure levels. When blood vessels are relaxed, blood rushes into the areas of your body that previously experienced poor circulation.

Taking L-Arginine results in significant improvement in blood flow to the genitals. A study published in the Journal of Urology found that L-Arginine allows more blood to flow into the penis and helps relax smooth muscles to prompt previously constrained blood to flow again. The increased levels of blood flow resulted in improved erection quality.

Doc’s Triple Threat is the only supplement we know of to combine these three powerful sexual enhancement ingredients. Triple Threat works best used together with our Yang Energy formula. Together, they provide an array of natural ingredients each of which have been shown to have positive effects. None of us will ever be seventeen again. But maturity has its perks, and there is no reason we can’t have a healthy and full romantic life well into advanced age. I like to think that, as Tony Bennett sings, the best is yet to come.
