About Dr. Ron
Dr. Ron Schmid has practiced
in Connecticut since 1981. He's appeared on scores of
television and radio shows throughout America as an advocate
for the importance of natural foods and supplements in
the treatment of disease. He's taught at naturopathic
medical schools in Connecticut, Oregon, Washington, and
Arizona. He served as the first Chief Medical Officer
and Clinic Director for the University of Bridgeport
College of Naturopathic Medicine.
Hundreds of people who
have heard of Dr. Schmid through his teachings and writings
have consulted with him by phone over the years. While
at least one visit is ideal, phone consults can be of
great value for people who live too far away. Many have
regained their health with Dr. Schmid's guidance.
Dr. Schmid is the author
of Traditional Foods
Are Your Best Medicine. First published
in 1986, Traditional Foods has influenced thousands of
health professionals as Dr. Schmid's writings and teachings
have led the movement away from vegetarianism and toward
diets that include lots of high-quality animal proteins-foods
that together with vegetables form the core of traditional
healing diets throughout the world.
A Path to Health
We naturally expect competence,
expertise, and reliability from our physicians. Many
doctors are experts in their field, men and women who
provide reliable and knowledgeable recommendations. But
providing the best care demands a relationship that gives
more than expertise. "Doctor" is the Latin
word for teacher, and my goal is to teach you to be truly
healthy—free of concerns about medical problems.
That can happen only if we have a real relationship.
In short, we need to work together.
My promise to every person,
whether we meet or consult by phone, is that I will do
all I can to help you reach your health goals. I will
be your teacher, your mentor in health. Your concerns
will be addressed and your problems will be researched
for the most up-to-date information.
What you can expect as
my patient: At your first visit or phone consult, we'll
spend twenty-five minutes together. I'll learn the details
of your medical history and your chief concerns, and
examine the relevant problems. We'll talk about tests
that would be most useful in assessing your condition
and your unique needs. I'll outline the beginning of
a plan that will start to correct your underlying problems.
And I'll very likely prescribe a few supplements and
herbal medicines to help that process along.
At our second consultation,
we'll review any test results and take stock of how what
we've begun is working. Then we'll make a detailed plan
about how to get well. Subsequent consultations serve
to assess changes, clarify questions, and make adjustments
in your program.
I encourage you to call
me if you run into problems or have questions about issues
that can't wait until your next scheduled consultation.
When unavailable, I'll call back within 24 hours, usually
much sooner. If your questions can be answered in a few
minutes, I'll do so. If we need more time, I'll suggest
we schedule a consultation. |
